Julie is the main protagonist of Heavy Metal 2000 and Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2. Her enmity with Tyler starts when the latter kills her father, kidnaps her sister Kerrie, and devastates her home planet of Eden.
Story[]
Pursuing him to a renegade space station, after coherencing the aid of Germaine (a reluctant former crewman of Tyler's he left behind), Julie learns of Tyler's healing serum after witnessing him get back up after she gunned him down. Undeterred she follows him through hyperspace, causing both their ships to crash on the surface of the planet Oroboris becoming separated from Germaine during the descent.
Meeting Odin, and his rocky companion Zeek, the two help Julie reach Tyler again after he sized control of an army of alien reptiles. Sneaking into their fortress, Julie makes a second attempt on his life, using seduction to get close to catch him off guard, but is stopped by Zeek during their brawl, much to her anger. They then journey to Tyler's crashed ship the Cortez, where she discovered, to her horror, the remains of her fellow colonists being drained and rescues her sister Kerrie, before destroying the ruined vessel after a scuffle with the insane Doctor working for Tyler, cutting him off from the source of his healing elixir.
Afterwards Odin tells the both of them about the fountain Tyler seeks within the citadel and how it will grant him true immortality should he take it. Understanding the stakes they head toward the citadel.
After arriving at the citadel, discovering Germain had taken shelter there, Julie undergoes a ritual where she is outfitted with red armor and a fearsome sword. Together with Kerrie, and Germain they help the fountain's guardians defend against Tyler's army, finally managing to kill him for good, just before the door to the fountain could fully open. Julie then witnessed as Odin revealed his true self as well as his attempt to seize the fountain for himself only to be stopped by Zeeks selfless sacrifice.
With Julie's vengeance obtained and Odin sealed forever within the fountain chamber, the three battle weary humans limped away, Germaine wondering aloud if they had become immortal, a concept which would be explored in Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2.
Trivia[]
- The character of Julie is based off the late actress, Julie Strain, and is a rugged self reliant frontier woman. While her role is similar to that of Taarna the Taarakian, Julie's personal motivations and preference for firearms distinguishes her from the white-hair warrior.
- In the comic special made to commemorate the film, Julie has a boyfriend named Nathen, who dies in the attack. Her home colony of Eden is also much more naturalistic, with her and Kerrie hunting using bows while in loincloths.
Abilities[]
Julie is shown to be adept at pretty much any form of combat, with both guns and melee weapons and is shown to be an adapt pilot. She also possesses telescopic visor she uses for surveying terrain and tracking.
